Algae are a family of living plants that often invade ponds and fountains of all sizes.
Algae may look like a fine green coating, tufts of short "beard" algae or
long strands of "hair" algae. Free floating algae cells often form

below chemicals are restricted in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maine and
Massachusetts. We cannot ship any of the below chemicals (except BioClean which is
an all natural product and not a chemical) to addresses in the above 5 states.
Also, the use of these chemicals is restricted to privately owned ponds &
lakes. If you are wanting to treat a public pond or a pond that has water flow to or
from a public waterway you must contact your local DNR (Department of Natural Resources)

Rodeo/Eagre
Rodeo/Eagre is a non-selective herbicide used around ponds, lakes and streams for control of
cattails, brush and weeds that grow out of the water. It is not effective on plants
that grow under (or mostly under) the water. Rodeo/Eagre is sprayed onto the foilage of
the plants and kills the plant and its roots. Rodeo/Eagre must be used with Cide Kick II
(below). Application rate is 2 oz. of Rodeo per gallon of water. Some plants,
like cattails, may require a second application. Effectiveness may be reduced if
rain occurs within 6 hours of treatment. Results will begin to show in 2-4 days in

Navigate is a 2, 4-D based product that is very effective on waterlilies (lily pads),

Dosage Rates for Ponds/Lakes
Initial Dose: 10 lbs. per surface acre
To find out how to calculate surface acres, measure the length and width of
your pond and put the measurements into this formula:. You measured your
pond and your pond is 250ft. long x 250ft. wide. Multiply 250 x 250 =
62,500. Divide your answer (in this case, 62,500) by 43,560. (43,560 is
one surface acre). So, the math will look like this: 62,500 ÷ 43,560 =
1.43 surface acres or roughly
1 1/2 surface acres is the size of your pond.
Maintenance Dose: 5 lbs.
per surface acre every 2 weeks thereafter.
To apply, simply add
PlanktoniX™
to your pond by sprinkling the product around the pond's edges or
throughout the body of water. Adding the product near an aerator also works
well for better distribution throughout the pond.
The application method is really up to you. However
best you can distribute the product, like any other product, the better.
